Frequently asked questions

What exactly does Hit Me Helpers do?

We help motorcyclists prepare for emergencies by offering scannable QR codes that store vital medical information. If you’re in a crash and can’t speak, EMS can scan the code and access your emergency profile instantly.

Do you accept donations or sponsorships?

Yes! Donations help us cover hosting costs and reach more riders. Sponsorships are also welcome.

How does the QR code system work?

You can visit our website to request a new QR code. Once you receive it you can activate it online and input all of your medical information. Once it's activated, you are good to go!

Is this a sticker, a card, or both?

Both! It will initially come in a 2x2 sticker for your helmet or car seat. After activation, you can order your QR code as a small wallet card OR additional helmet sticker — whatever works best for you.

Can EMS scan this without an app?

Yes. Any smartphone or tablet with a camera can scan the code and instantly view your emergency info in a browser.

What kind of medical info is stored?

You can include blood type, allergies, medications, conditions, emergency contacts, insurance, and DNR status — anything EMS might need to know.

Is my data secure and private?

Yes. Your info is stored securely and only viewable through your unique, read-only QR code link. We never share or sell your data.

Can I update my info later?

Absolutely. Just log in anytime to update your profile. Your QR code will always link to the latest version.

Do you store my info online, or is it in the QR code itself?

Currently, the QR links to an online emergency profile. We’re working on an optional offline version with encrypted data in the QR itself.

How do I create a profile?

Just register at our webiste, and you are all good to go!

Can I put this on my helmet or jacket?

You can place this anywhere that is accessible to EMS. We recommend the top or back of the helmet, where EMS will be able to notice it relatively quickly.

Will the QR code still work if I don’t have cell service?

EMS needs a data connection to access your online profile. We’re developing a version that includes critical info directly in the code for offline access.

What do EMS providers see when they scan the code?

A clean, read-only page showing your emergency info: name, allergies, conditions, meds, and contact info — no login required.

Is this approved by any EMS organizations or hospitals?

We’re actively working with EMS professionals to meet field needs. While not formally certified, it’s designed to complement existing emergency protocols.

Is this free?

Yes — it is 100% free. We believe every rider should have access to this potentially life-saving tool.

How can I support the project or help spread the word?

Follow and share our mission on Instagram @hitmehelpers, tell your riding group, and encourage others to create a profile. Every scan could save a life.
